F.M. Kitchens Elevates Billing Accuracy using Sodex

Headquartered in Jefferson, Georgia, F.M. Kitchens delivers full-scale site development services ranging from clearing and earthworks to utilities, paving, and concrete. On the 150-acre Canaan Development - one of their largest residential projects to date - the team managed extensive earthmoving, water line installation, and paving operations. With project scale increasing, maintaining clear visibility into production progress became essential. With Sodex they knew exactly how much material moved on site between their billing cycles to charge the customers accordingly.

The challenge

From Monthly Estimates to Measurable Insights

F.M. Kitchens was exploring the use of drones to verify existing site conditions and track production progress for billing purposes. Their goal was simple: Gain a clearer understanding of how much material was being moved month to month.

Before implementing Sodex, production quantities were estimated. While the team often came close, billing was ultimately based on informed guesses rather than verified data.

During a live demonstration with Terrawise Solutions, one of our dealers, the team saw an alternative approach. What stood out was the simplicity of the system and the cloud-based software. The ability to capture, process, and analyze data quickly without complex workflows made a strong impression.

Our Solution

Weekly Progress Tracking

F.M. Kitchens implemented the SDX-Compact On-Top on a dedicated side-by-side, creating a simple and repeatable scanning workflow. The team typically scans once per week, allowing them to clearly track how much material has been moved between scans.

The system plays a central role in billing and scheduling. Instead of estimating monthly quantities, they now rely on measured volume changes to support invoicing and internal verification.

Beyond billing, the platform provides visual insights such as heatmaps and cut/fill comparisons. This allows the team to clearly show customers current progress and project status. The result is better transparency, stronger documentation, and more informed decision-making across operations.

Customer Feedback

"It’s amazing because by the time we shut the machine down and we get back to the office the data is already there. You open up your computer and it’s all there."

Next Steps

Scaling with Confidence

As F.M. Kitchens continues to take on larger and more complex projects, accurate production tracking remains a priority. The team’s philosophy is clear: if you can’t measure it, you can’t manage it.

With Sodex in place, they have established a reliable system for monitoring progress and supporting growth. Moving forward, they plan to further integrate new platform features as they are released – continuously improving how they track, analyze, and manage production data.

The Result

Verified Progress, Confident Billing

By scanning weekly, F.M. Kitchens now knows exactly how much material has been moved between billing cycles. The system provides reliable data for invoicing, internal verification, and customer updates – turning production tracking into a measurable and defensible process.
